Wisdom Centre, Calgary, AB, Canada

The Wisdom Centre is very pleased to announce that Brandan Robertson will be leading an event for us November 16-19, 2017.  The Rev. Brandan Robertson is an author, pastor, thought-leader, contemplative activist working at the intersection of spirituality, sexuality and social renewal. Phyllis Tickle wrote the preface to his book, Nomad, and Brandan very much follows in Phyllis’ footsteps in terms of helping us look at the large shifts that are taking place in the cultural and spiritual landscape.

Thursday, November 16, 5:30 – 9:00 pm

True Inclusion: Creating Communities That Embrace All. Church leaders (ordained and non-ordained) looking to create true inclusion in their communities are invited to an evening that will include a talk by Brandan, a dinner during which there will be table discussion, and then a warp-up time for questions. Having served as the immediate past national spokesperson of Evangelicals for Marriage Equality, on the U.S. State Department’s Working Group on Religion and LGBT+ Rights, The Democratic National Conventions LGBT+ Advisory Board, and the Humane Societies Millennial Faith Leader Advisory Board, Brandan brings a depth of Wisdom and Experience to this topic. Two of his forth-coming books, True Inclusion: Becoming Communities That Embrace All (Chalice Press, 2017), and Our Witness: The Unheard Stories of LGBT+ Christians (Cascade Books, 2018) of which he is editor, address this topic. Location for this event is St. Laurence Anglican Church, 5940 Lakeview Drive SW Calgary.

Friday, November 17, 7:30 pm

The Next Reformation: The Future of Spirituality. A public lecture suggesting the future course of our individual and collective spiritual lives. Brandan will map a trajectory for where we are heading and help interpret current events – including Brexit and Trump- in light of the evolution of spirituality. Location for this evening is also St. Laurence Anglican Church.

Saturday, November 18, 9:30 – 3:30

Waking Up, Growing Up: Understanding Individual and Cultural Spiritual Growth – A day-long retreat experience where Brandan will draw on his work with renowned philosopher Ken Wilber. Brandan will also guide us in modern spiritual practices focusing on how to live in awe and wonder in the midst of ordinary, day to day life – practices and disciplines that emerge from the spiritual but not religious generation.Saturday’s workshop will be held at Mount Royal University (MRU) at 4825 Mount Royal Gate SW, Calgary in the Lincoln Park Room.
